Summary

Rastafarians in Ethiopia celebrated the seventy-third anniversary of the crowning of the last Ethiopian Empire Haile Selassie, whom they consider the incarnation of God and the saviour of the African people. Rastafarians, who most frequently come from the Carribbean, United States and Great Britain, started to come to Ethiopian in 1955 when Haile Selassie decided to give five hundred hectars of land to all Africans who want to return to where their ancestors were abducted from into slavery. The gifted land is located in the small Southern Ethiopian town of Shashemene and for Rastafarians that have settled there it represents a new life in Ethiopia fulfilling their faith.
