Synopsis

A daughter of a forester from the Sumava mountains is married off to a banker whom she does not love; he, in turn, does not show any understanding for family life. The disillusioned wife falls in love with the banker's nephew, a virtuoso on the violin with whom she plays duets. The envious and jealous banker's sister betrays their love and the nephew is driven out of the house. The banker's wife goes to live with her parents where her lover arrives in search of her. The banker, who has also paid his wife a visit, sees his nephew at her feet and, in a fit of jealousy, smashes his violin. The young woman's heart breaks in her passion and unhappy love. (According to promotional material issued at the time the film was made.)

Note

The film became famous for the illustrious presence of Bohumil Benoni, principal opera singer at the National Theatre. The film materials are believed lost.
