Pavla, the daughter of prince Bučakov, runs off with her tutor Dr Oginský and the couple wed in secret. They then go to Petrograd where Pavla meets Rasputin, a man who is greatly respected and trusted at the court of the tsar and tsarina. All the ladies from the highest social circles become his lover, only Pavla, whom he longs for the most, remains out of reach. Rasputin begins behaving very discourteously and, in society, he names all the women with whom he has had relations, mentioning them by name. The ladies want to take revenge and they ask Pavla to lure Rasputin into a trap. Pavla agrees to help them and Rasputin is finally murdered.
