Three friends disrupt the tranquil life of Voborský and his wife. At one time, all three of them had sworn that they would never get married. Voborský is the only one to have broken the oath but he does not want them to find out. Therefore he asks his wife Ema to go and stay with her parents during the visit of his friends. She agrees even though she reminds her husband of the eleventh commandment: Thou shalt not deny your wife! The situation is complicated by the unexpected arrival of his wife's parents and Ema's younger sister Julinka. Voborský therefore introduces his wife as his illegitimate daughter whose mother was supposed to have been his landlady when he was a student. But another student, now a judge, has had a love affair with her, and he now thinks that Ema is his child and wishes to care Another of the friends, a timid professor, falls in love with Julinka. After several humorous incidents, with Julinka's help, Voborský finally confesses that he is married and the friends break off their pact.
