Students Ik and Slavik are living in rented accommodation in Prague. They are always getting up to tricks and as a result have constant problems with their landlady, Mrs Blazek. The landlord's daughter Liduska is also a wild spirit and, instead of staying at home cooking for the family, she prefers going out dancing with her young friends. Ik and Slavik visit a radio station in Strasnice with their fellow students and, two weeks later, they have made their own radio. The result, however, is unsatisfactory and Ik writes home asking for money for more spare parts. His parents ask uncle Vlnka, a radio enthusiasts, to keep an eye on the boy. When Vlnka discovers that the money Ik wants really is for a radio transmitter, he tries to negotiate for a higher sum from his parents. Ik and Slavik befriend Liduska and they listen to the new radio together. Still feeling the effects of his futuristic dream, Ik asks Liduska to meet him on Petrin hill. In the evening they listen to the radio together but it suddenly breaks down. The next day they all go onto the roof to check the aerial. Mrs Blazek sees them on the roof and calls the fire brigade. However, it is not long before Ik, Liduska and her father are sitting listening to the radio once more.
The film includes detailed shots of the radio station in Strašnice, 1926.
