A brutal husband dies in a fight with the lawyer, a friend of his wife. The lawyer considers himself to be a murderer but a poacher is accused instead. In the end it is discovered that the murder was committed by a servant and the lawyer is then free to marry the widow. (According to an article appearing in the press at the time the film was made.)
