Eliška, at the wish of her parents, marries a wealthy businessman. When she becomes widowed, she fondly remembers her first love, Jiří Světlý who, disillusioned by her marriage to the factory owner, had left for America and assumed the name George Light. Eliška has a weak heart and she goes with her niece Helenka to a sanatorium in Poděbrady. There the student Jiří Světlý falls in love with Helenka and Eliška has to deter the advances of the wealthy businessman Bumbrlíček and the comical professor Laťka. George Light also appears in Poděbrady with a group of Czech-Americans. He seeks out Eliška and asks for her hand in marriage. At the same time he asks for Helenka's hand for Jiří Světlý, who is, in fact George's nephew.
The film contains documentary shots of mineral water being bottled in a factory. The film itself was made with the support of the Poděbrady spa and its simple plot promotes spa treatments. Only part of the film has survived.
