Guests have arrived at the mountain hotel in Štrbské Pleso to celebrate New Year's Eve. Among them is the spy Marek with his companion Luisa and Dr Lažanský with his daughter Nelly. A group of soldiers join them who are in the mountains for their skiing training. Marek behaves suspiciously. Nelly wants to go off into the mountains alone and capitain Sychrava teaches her the SOS signal in case of an accident. Midnight arrives and everyone is rejoicing in the light of the fireworks. Commander Helm realises that this is a sign for Marek. Marek goes into the mountains in the same direction as Nelly to receive secret documents from two men. Nelly is attacked by the two men and, helpless, gives the SOS signal with her scarf. Sychrava comes to rescue her. Marek, in the meantime, returns to the hotel where he is detained along with the two men. Nelly is saved and, once back at the hotel, happily embraces Sychrava.
