Synopsis

Kamila Benderová works in radio. She is divorced, her husband left her some years ago. She lives with her daughter at her mother's, who brings in extra income as an attendant at Frangysová's the singer. One day the young inventor Marek demonstrates his new television set. Turning up there is Kamila's former husband, who under the name of Wells feigns interest in purchasing the apparatus. In reality he wants to steal the plans for its manufacture. He causes an electrical short circuit that cuts short the broadcast, and the station's director decides that the instrument is defective and that he will not purchase it. Kamila is invited to an evening party. Because she does not have an evening dress her mother secretly borrows a gown for her from Frangysová's wardrobe. Kamila becomes the center of attention, but then the singer shows up and accuses her of theft in front of all those present. Kamila leaves the radio station and finds new work in the laboratory of Eng. Marek. Both feel an affection for one another, and Kamila is happy that she is able to assist him. During a test broadcast viewers become witnesses to a violent robbery when Wells wants to steal the plans and in the scuffle shoots and wounds Kamila. Eng. Marek comes to her aid. No one now doubts the success of his invention.
