Adam Kavalír returns from abroad to take over the family factory from his father. But as a consequence of his father's bohemian lifestyle the business is so far in debt that the Kavalírs even lose their villa and must find a place to sublet. Mrs. Trojanová is no longer up to managing her pension, the co-owner of which is none other than her peevish daughter Eva, and she is looking for a capable manager. Adam applies for the position and is accepted. Under his direction the business flourishes. But Eva is not satisfied with Adam and she looks for reasons to argue. Adam's father comes to visit. He passes himself off as a guest of the spa and Eva is excited by his elegance. The father, together with the others, takes part in the preparations for a grand masked ball and charms Mrs. Trojanová. Adam would like to leave the spa after the last violent argument with Eva. He finds her, however, in his car, for Eva has finally come to realize that Adam is not only an excellent manager, but also a wonderful partner for life.
