Synopsis

The authors of the Mirror were invited to visit a village. The problem they are supposed to deal with concerns the minor cooperatives which are being established for various reasons. The only chance to prevent private farmers from controlling the village events is to bring people together in farmers' cooperatives. And thus it happens that the self-interested farmer Bárta initiates the establishment of a cooperative because only a cooperative can get a voucher to purchase a tractor. When his neighbours come to borrow the tractor, Bárta refuses, explaining that it was he who had purchased the machine. The consequent meeting is not jolly for Bárta who is severly pilloried for his behaviour. The Mirror editors intend to return after some time to check the situation. They are moreover looking forward to the new fattened piglets from the cooperative fattening station and the pork feast.
