The young Oderka couple's Sunday is ruined. The father has to keep fixing the wheel back on the pram in which they are taking their little daughter to the park. Karel Oderka works in an electric cooker production workshop. He complains to his colleague Pepíček about the poor quality of the pram. Pepíček is not very devoted to his work and is just awaiting for working hours to finish. He wants to go to the stationery shop and buy himself a new pen. After taking a long time to make his mind up he finally chooses one. But the pen proves a failure after the first time he uses it in the post-office. What's more, Pepíček discovers in the tram that the ink from the faulty pen has leaked and stained his breast pocket, shirt and jacket. He meets his young neighbour Boženka, who is really looking forward to cooking a dinner for herself on the new electric cooker she bought. But the faulty appliance blows the fuses in her apartment and Pepíček comes to help. Boženka works in the control department of the factory for fountain pens. They look at each other silently and reproachfully. They are most probably ashamed of the faulty goods which they helped produce.
