There are a lot of flowers growing in a well-cared for city quarter, and a lot of children play there. A group of friends decides to similarly arrange the empty courtyard of the factory in which the parents of some of the children work. Tonda is proud of his bed of tulips but refuses to help the other children. The children set to work with great enthusiasm and the factory courtyard brightens up with flowers. They even paint a picture onto a big banner. When the children leave, Tonda vandalizes their work completely. The next day, the children go to water their plants and see their work destroyed. To complete the injustice, the gate-keeper Matýsek from the factory kicks them out not suspecting that the wrongdoer is his own grandson - Tonda. The children punish the vandal boy by not playing with him. Tonda is anyway already sorry for what he did, and restores the flower-beds in secret, adding to them his celebrated tulips. After this, the children accept him again.
