Young writer Pařízek is waiting for the umpteenth time in the editorial office of the publishing house for one of the editors. He would be glad to know when his novel about the North-Bohemian mines "March into Glory" will be published. Editor Kučerová praises his writing but not without a reproof. She is using a lot of meaningless phrases and useless advice in the process. Then the editor-in-chief arrives and also has some "well meant suggestions" to add. Pařízek realizes that nobody has read his book. When the boy comes to him to pick up the wastepaper Pařízek throws in his manuscript as well.
