Three soldiers are making their way to the barracks from a dancing party. It is Saturday, a chilly February night. They have missed the last train and have to wade in deep snow. They drank lots of alcohol. Zdeněk keeps falling asleep and has to be held up by his friends. The Corporal Mašek finally decides to go on ahead and ask for help. Zdeněk is left on the spot with his friend Mirek. Mašek makes it to the barracks but is so drunk and tired that he falls asleep by the stove. In the morning he wakes up with horror and realizes what happened and sets on to search for his night companions. Near the deserted shed, he finds Zdeněk asleep, covered by Mirek's coat. The two search for Mirek. But it is too late. The drunk and underdressed soldier fell from the steep slope at night and froze in the snow. And here comes Saturday again, and soldiers are coming to the dancing party...
The film is based on a true story. The scenes from the Saturday dancing party were shot by a hidden camera.
