Young Honzík is watching a puppet fairytale with other children at the theatre. When it ends, everyone leaves except Honzík who takes a look backstage. There he finds the magic whistle from the fairytale and he "borrows" it for a while. The whistle fulfils the boy's wishes. It mends his broken mug and rocking horse. Honzík sets off into the streets of Prague. Driving a toy car which he had magicked up, Honzík goes to meet his friend Tonda at school and they make for the playground. The roundabout is full so Honzík makes everyone on it disappear. For the roundabout to work, he has to conjure up the attendant once more. He sets the roundabout going and refuses to stop it, even though the boys want to go home. Honzík uses magic to make himself and his friend disappear off into the woods. There the two friends fall out with each other and Honzík has his friend disappear. Then he suddenly loses the magic whistle which he is now using to mistreat people. The boy begins to cry when a witch appears and starts to tug at him. She then turns into the kind cloakroom attendant who wakes him up from his dream in the now deserted auditorium.
