Young Pavel and his friends are fascinated by an electrical engineer working on a street post. Pavel's mother calls him home and gives him an empty milkcan and five crowns and tells him to go and buy some milk. On the way he drops the milkcan. He buys the milk at the dairy but cannot find the money. The engineer, who is sitting there having his lunch, lends him the five crowns saying that they're friends now, after all. At home Pavel washes his hands and the five-crown note falls out of his sleeve. The surprised boy goes outside again and stops at the ice-cream seller, the confectioner's and the toyshop, but doesn't buy anything for the time being. He even goes to visit the fair. He resists the temptation to try the merry-go-round, the shooting range, dodgem cars and the fairground motor scooters. He remembers the kind engineer and runs to his caravan. He returns the money with a smile.
