Žemla, one of the five bakers at a pretzel shop, is absent again. He always gets sent on calls to welcome all kinds of delegations. The master baker still insists that the rest of the bakers should sign an agreement obliging them to increase production by twenty percent in honour of the Great Comrade's birthday. The agile baker Kožvara has the idea of baking the biggest pretzel in the world. He prepares sketches and models for the equipment needed to help them complete the difficult task. The managers give him an award for his initiative and send him to visit other firms where he lectures on How to Celebrate Appropriately. Kožvara needs someone to provide him with the right applause, bows and cheers, and takes on first baker Piontek, and then Ledecký. The last remaining baker Josef Dundr is desperate because he can no longer fulfil the plan for everyone. One day, enthusiasm for the Great Comrade evaporates and Kožvara's mission is cancelled. All the bakers are back at their workplace...
