Young poet Vladimíra reads her verses at the poetry theatre Viola. The snobbish theatre crowd concered of literature and so take an interest in her poems. They are excessive in their praise, but the girl feels she still has to find her own path, one without self-delusion. She must also come to terms with her own past - with her time at a reformatory prison and her part in the murder of a postman whom she and a gang of young men once attacked in a lonely spot.
