The night before they leave for the army to begin their military service, a group of recruits organize a farewell party. Vojta's parents have left for the family cottage, and the boys thus have the apartment to themselves. They drink, talk, dance and wait for the last friend. There are also girls in their company. Among them is Helena, fancied by Petr. Petr would like to make love with her but the girl turns him down. One of the boys was supposed to bring wine but appears with two live carp. They may even relish the fish but nobody is able to kill them. Everybody tries to be jolly but the boys do not feel like going to the army. And so they play on fortune a bit - if the friend who they are waiting for comes by the morning, they are not going to leave. The night passes by, the morning comes and the boys have to join up.
