Four actors move around the lit stage of a small studio in front of the indifferent lens of a camera. They are to perform a scene they chose themselves, and the director is going to express his satisfaction by switching off the spotlight. Compared to the other three, the older actor Jarda is a star and also a little bit of a routinist, commenting on the set task with displeasure. The older of the two women, actress Vanda, does not know how to handle the situation. The younger woman, Eva, is still full of enthusiasm while the last actor, Pavel, does not hide that he is doing this only for money. Jarda suggests that Eva and Pavel play a couple of lovers. All the actors at the same time quarrel a little and not one of them is able to invent anything proper on his or her own. Pavel gets angry and leaves. In a while, the lights go off - the director most possibly got exactly what he wanted.
