Two men and two women are captivated by Manet's famous picture Le Dejeuner sur l'herbe and decide to hold a picnic exactly according to the painting. They take the picture with them and hunt for suitable scenery. After looking around for some time they find what they need: grass, trees, a murmuring brook. They take the food for the feast out of the basket. One of the men arranges the women just as in the picture, but the women cannot concentrate. The fatter one is attracted by the food, and the slimmer keeps running off. After many misunderstandings and controversies they give up their plan and decide to have breakfast according to their own taste. For their next exercise they choose the painting The Beheading of John the Baptist.
