A fed up young waiter is sweeping the floor in a cheap pub after the closing time. The voice from the radio reminds him it is the Christmas Eve and the young man puts on the legs of the turned-up chairs lit candles. Somebody is knocking on the door. Kateřina, evidently a fast woman crushes into the pub. She is sad and lonely. They chat over a beer and soon an old florist joins them. She got from somebody a helping of fried fish. As there are still boiled potatoes in the kitchen, all three have quite a good dinner. The florist shows off in the end an ornamental ball for a Christmas tree which her son sent to her from America. When you pull the string, a hidden mechanism plays the Christmas song Silent Night.
