In the eve of the feast of St. Rufus, in the August of 1278, there comes secretly to the military camp of Czech King Přemysl Otakar II the noble-man Záviš of Falkenstein who went over to Rudolph of Hapsburg, the adversary of Přemysl. Záviš offers that he attacks the Rudolph troops from the rear. In return for it he would like to receive pardon - for his house of Vítkovites. However, the offended ruler has not forgiven his treason. He is willing the reconciliation only when Záviš changes sides in public and joins with his men Přemysl's other units. Therefore they do not come to an agreement. The next day, King Přemysl Otakar II dies in the battle on the Moravian Field and his troops are defeated...
