The young Klára is on the verge of pubescence. She does not receive much love at home. Her parents are primitive and coarse people who constantly fight with each other and are only little interested in their daughter. The reclusive girl goes to watch the beautiful horses kept near her town. She becomes fond of the mare Dahome. The stable caretaker teaches Klára horsemanship and takes her out for rides. But the girl slowly matures and the man gets aroused at her presence. One day, the two drive the horse herd into the stables in the pouring rain and the man tries to rape the girl. The wrestling Klára is saved by Dahome who frees itself from the harness and thus interrupts the man. The desperately weeping Klára runs home in the heavy rain. She falls down into a deep puddle on a muddy road, finding out that her hand is wounded and bleeding. She keeps sitting in the muddy water and moans loudly.
