FAMU student film based on the novel by Albert Moravia.
Agostino's mother – a young, attractive and wealthy widow – talks to her lover during her holiday by the sea. The fourteen-year old boy Agostino meets Berto who he finds in his dressing cabin. Berto explains to him that he and his party play at cops and robbers. Agostino then also meets the other boys. Although he likes Berto, he is too well raised to support him in his lie that they do not hide in the cabins when playing. Berto then gets beaten by his rather rough pals. Agostino then hears from the boys what his beloved mother really does during her trips. He gives the boys cigarettes, which he took from home. Although Agostino is rich, he is not stuck up or snooty and the boys take him as a friend. He learns many things from the poor and noticeably more cunning members of the party, but he keeps it to himself and away from his refined and upscale mother.
