An adaptation of the poem of the same name by J. W. Goethe abou tan inexperienced sorcerer's apprentice.
The story takes place in medieval Prague. An apprentice peeks at a magic book over his master's shoulder. As soon as the sorcerer leaves, he uses a spell to animate a broom and makes it bring water from a nearby river instead of him having to carry it. The inexperienced youth, however, cannot either control or stop the magic and the bewitched broom gradually floods the house with water. Only the returning master can halt the supernatural power and he brings the house back to order.
Animating the film employed the Kinox systém (the models for the animato characters were created by Jan Konstantin and Elena Tanasco). Information about the censorship proceedings did not survive. The film maybe was not submitted for censorship and shown in cinemas.
