Václav Táborský's short music documentary SFMP (Song for Mrs. Pilarová) follows the birth and recording of Eva Pilarová's popular song. After Bohuslav Ondráček and Jan Schneider have composed the music and lyrics, the filmmaker's attention focuses on the singer herself, her process of learning new songs and the routine of concert tours. Although most of the passages use direct cinema method, the director also included various playful elements and stylized scenes, based on the early Czechoslovak video clip aesthetics.
Composer Bohuslav Ondráček and lyricist Jan Schneider compose a new song for Eva Pilarová. In her home, Eva Pilarová reads the notes for this song and rehearses rhythm and phrasing of the lyrics. First rehearsal of singing together with the piano played by Ondráček. Eva Pilarová leaves for a concert tour. She gets ready in a dressing room and sings on stage to a large audience accompanied by a big beat band. At night she returns home in a taxi, tired. She reunites with Bohuslav Ondráček in the Karlín recording studio. Ondráček and technicians sit in a director's room. Eva Pilarová sings first version of To se stává in front of a microphone. Ondráček, in a director's chair, plays parts of the recording from a tape recorder and points out the weak points. Eva Pilarová returns to the microphone and records a definitive version of the song.
