Vít Pancířs feature-length debut was inspired by Jáchym Topol's eponymous novel. The impetus for making the film came from the music of Psí vojáci (Dog Soldiers), a band featuring the authors younger brother Filip, which released an album with the same title. Taking from the books extensive storyline the love story of the main character Creek and the girl Black, the film attempts to strike an equal balance between image, music, and words.
