After the series Carstenz – the Seventh Mountain and other films, the distribution company OUTDOOR FILMS s.r.o. presents the feature-length programme Everest, including three films from 2003 – 2008: the medium-length Czech documentary film In the Shadow of the Goddess of Mother Earth (Ve stínu bohyně matky Země, 2003), the short Slovak film Everest – Juzek Psotka (2008) and the short Czech film Window to the Sky (Okno do nebe, 2007). The programme is a block on life and death on the highest mountain. For all mountain climbers the sacred mountain giant symbolises a kind of “centre of the world” and everyone was actively involved in the Everest expeditions. They feel respect and admiration for mountains; they don’t “conquer” or “humiliate” the peaks, but enter into “dialogue" with them. – The first and third films are dominated by the testimonies of mountain climbers filmed in various places in the Czech and Slovak republics and supplemented by archive footage; the second was made "in the field" as a planned documentary on a defiant expedition.
The group includes three films from 2003–2008, two Czech films and one Slovak film that we are also presenting in the foreign part of the distribution.
