Synopsis

Fresh graduate teacher Honza is coming to introduce himself in a junior school in the town of Sokolovo which will be his first place of work. His girlfriend Kateřina, recent high-school graduate and enthusiastic photographer, decided to follow him and find work at the same town. Honza is also an ambitious sportsman and after the successful running races he is chosen for another races. Thus, at the beginning of September, he does not take up work. Kateřina who came with an excuse is persuaded by the headmaster to substitute her boyfriend in a class. She enjoys the work with children and thus she is taken on as a schoolmistress in an after-school centre, where she takes advantage of her hobby and organizes with children the photograph competition at the theme Love. Honza is not coming and instead keeps making excuses. An old teacher Havránek and his wife are for unhappy Kateřina a kind recourse. They take her and children to the ringing of birds where even wagtail appears. Havránek gets to know that earlier devastated industrial countryside returns by means of re-cultivations back to its nature character and due to his promise he decides definitely to retire. Among the competition photographs which children with Kateřina are examining in a clubroom, there happens to be one from the athletic races in the town of Plzeň. The pupil, not suspecting anything, caught Honza with popular Plzeň singer in arms. Shocked Kateřina regains self-control and after Honza rang up that he had gained a flat in Prague and that he would continue racing she cradles without saying a word.
