Traditional puppet film on the greediest cheapskat, the rector's cook Barbara.
When Dejvice was still just a village near Prague, people who lived there were very greedy and the vicar's cook Barka was the greediest of all them all. – When the vicar suggested to her that one of the two fat pigs should be given to a teacher who has a bunch of children, she was really upset. – At that time, however, similar thoughts were running through the teacher's mind. He sneaked into the rectory at night and killed one pig. – In the morning, he promised Barka to remove the dead animal so that people would not think that the vicar tries to hide some disease from them. – When Barka saw the smoke coming from the teacher's chimney in the afternoon, she became suspicious. She sneaked into the school, where she did not find anything, but she fell and stayed lying on the ground. The terrified teacher thought she was dead. He put the body in a bag and carried it to a barn of his greedy neighbour Kubát. He thought there was a thief in the barn and beat Barka with a flail. Thinking he killed her, he carried her to school in a sack. On the way, he met the mayor, who was poaching in a game park. The men, who were both in shock, accidentally switched the sacks, and as a result, Kubát put a fawn on the school desk, and the mayor dumped Barka on the floor at home. The mayor’s wife fainted when she saw Barka, and when her husband tried to help his wife, he also poured water on Barka. Both women woke up and Barka ran straight home. – In the morning, the teacher found a shot fawn on the desk. However, both him and Kubát were still afraid that Barka had been killed. They were relieved only when the priest told them about the two bumps that had grown on Barka's head overnight. – Not even these series of events did not help the villagers to become better people.
