Drunk Rudolf stops in a villa, welcomed by an euphoric company, which confuses him for a Jakub. Rudolf is attracted to a beautiful girl at the party, who invites him to visit her the next day. The sober Rudolf rushes to the neighbourhood of the villa the next day, but is unable to find the house where he saw the young beauty. He gives up in disappointment and joins the man-in-charge and Nastěnka on the street who, like himself, are among the shy and unsuccessful people, the martyrs of love.
