A park is full of coloured leaves. A gardener – a faceless flame-man – often burns them there. A lonesome man sits on a bench and drinks alcohol straight from the bottle. He is celebrating his thirty-ninth birthday. As a child, he received a rag-clown as a gift. Inflated baloons fly away and the man slides and dances on the wet ground. Ugly carrots are thrust into the sand. The man spots himself with a birthday cake in a hole left after one carrot. Well-wishers, singing Happy Birthday, start arriving to congratulate him – on chairs, on their backs and even on the soles of their shoes. The little birthday boy, hidden in a small room in the vegetable patch, begs the clown to make him younger.
