An extensive military training takes place on the training grounds. During the brief moments of leisure, the soldiers tell stories about everything possible, mostly about women. Everybody produces some story of his own, but the soldier Kryštůfek insists that "there are not any girls, they just made them up". The garrison organizes an evening dance party at the end of the training. The soldiers dispatch a bus into the neighbouring villages to bring along women dancers. They are all alert, looking forward the event, and wait. But there is only one girl who steps into the dance hall. She sits by the table, but none of the soldiers is brave enough to ask her to dance. A few awkward moments pass, then the girl stands up and leaves the dance hall in silence.
