Unfinished film.
The past. Winter wilderness in the mountains. Three decrepit and exhausted Knights of the Cross with one horse travel through the snowy blizzard from the Holy Land. The knights are the fifty-year-old Oldest One, the young skinny Novice, and the Wounded One, who is about to die. Out of mercy, the Oldest One kills the the Wounded One to save him from the approaching wolves. The Oldest One and the Novice are pursued by them. The men find a secluded building surrounded by palisades. They manage to get inside in the last minute at the cost of losing their horse. They also manage to save a small, carefully wrapped object that they must deliver to the order's superiors. In the building, they find the hunched Old Man, as if he had been expecting them. He offers both knights hospitality and behaves unusually helpful towards them. The Oldest One distrusts him and watches him closely. When the Old Man tries to take the wrapped object from the table, the Oldest One attacks him with a dagger, but the Novice intervenes. During the meal, the Old Man tells them that the Knights of the Cross are supposed to bring the Holy Grail from the Holy Land soon. The Novice confirms that the wrapped object is the Holy Grail. At the Old Man's request, the knights show him the beautiful cup. Meanwhile, the gate of the courtyard opens on its own, and hungry wolves rush into the yard. The Old Man transforms, and evil spirit takes over him. He accuses both knights of becoming traitors for a piece of meal. He opens the door of the house and lets the wolves in on both men. The beasts tear apart both the Oldest One and the Novice. The storm subsides, the Old Man takes the Holy Grail and disappears with it into the dark night, followed by the wolves. His silhouette vanishes, just like his tracks in the snow. (Based on the original script)
